Electric Bike Company E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

Electric Bike Company
Built To Ride.

Electric Bike Company (EBC) builds custom, made-in-the-USA cruiser e-bikes at its facility in Newport Beach, California, where each bike is assembled to order with rider-selected colors, components, and battery options. Their lineup centers on step-through and step-over beach/city cruisers (Models R, S, X, Y, J, C, F) running a rear hub motor (commonly 500W/750W) paired with a 48V Samsung-cell battery available in multiple capacities. The bikes are known for plush saddles, balloon tires, extensive personalization, and Class 1/2/3 selectable ride modes, making them a popular choice for relaxed cruising and around-town commuting.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Battery

charge with the supplied EBC charger in a dry, indoor, ventilated space; top off between rides and avoid storing fully depleted. For long-term storage follow the charge level in your owner's manual and keep the battery at moderate room temperature rather than in extreme heat or cold.

02

Tires

check and top off pressure before each ride to the range printed on the tire sidewall; EBC's wide cruiser tires roll and handle best when kept properly inflated, and underinflation can be masked by the motor while draining range.

03

Chain and drivetrain

keep the chain clean and lightly lubricated, wiping off excess to avoid attracting grit; a clean drivetrain shifts smoothly and extends chain, chainring, and cassette life.

04

Brakes

test lever feel before every ride and inspect pads and rotors periodically; replace pads when worn and have brakes adjusted or bled (if hydraulic) if you notice reduced stopping power or contamination.

05

Bolts and torque

periodically check that stem, handlebar, seatpost, wheel, and rack/fender hardware are snug, following the torque values in your EBC manual rather than overtightening.

06

Cleaning

wipe the frame with mild soap and a soft cloth and dry thoroughly; never aim a pressure washer at the motor, battery contacts, or display, and keep electrical connectors clean and dry.

07

Display and electrical

keep connectors seated and dry, and if a fault or error appears, power-cycle the system and reseat the battery before contacting service.

08

Service intervals

a professional tune-up roughly once a year (or sooner with heavy use) helps keep brakes, drivetrain, and electrical connections in good shape; EBC also offers phone support that can consult the actual builder of your bike.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

Can Mokwheel service my Electric Bike Company cruiser even though you're not the manufacturer?
Yes. As an independent shop we service all brands, and the mechanical systems on EBC bikes (brakes, drivetrain, bearings, tires, cables) are standard bicycle components we work on every day. For anything that involves a warranty claim on the motor, battery, or frame, we'll help you document the issue so you can also coordinate with EBC directly.
My EBC battery isn't holding the range it used to. What should I do?
Some capacity loss is normal as a lithium battery ages, but a sudden drop can also come from underinflated tires, cold weather, or riding in higher assist modes. Bring the bike in and we can check tire pressure, test the battery and charger, and inspect connections to pin down whether it's usage-related or a battery health issue.
Do you carry EBC-specific parts?
EBC bikes use many standard components we stock, plus some brand-specific parts like their custom tires and battery packs that are sourced through EBC. We'll use standard equivalents where appropriate and help you order any proprietary parts you need.
How often should I bring my cruiser in for service?
For typical riding, an annual tune-up is a good baseline, with a quick brake and tire check any time something feels off. If you ride daily, in wet conditions, or near salt air, more frequent drivetrain cleaning and brake checks are worthwhile.
Can you help with a display error code or an electrical fault?
Yes. We start by power-cycling the system, reseating the battery, and checking connector integrity, since many faults are connection-related. If it's a deeper controller, motor, or wiring issue, we'll diagnose it and advise whether a repair or an EBC warranty path makes more sense.
Is it safe to pressure wash my e-bike?
No. Use mild soap, a soft cloth or brush, and rinse gently, keeping water away from the motor, battery contacts, and display. Pressure washing can force water into electrical components and bearings and cause damage that isn't covered under warranty.
