Giant E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

Giant
Built To Ride.

Giant is the world's largest bicycle manufacturer and builds its e-bikes around the SyncDrive mid-drive motor, co-developed with Yamaha, paired with Giant's own EnergyPak battery system and RideControl controls and app. The SyncDrive units are designed to be water- and mud-resistant, delivering strong torque for commuting, touring, and mountain use. Popular models include the Explore E+ and Escape+ (city/trekking), the Quick E+ (fitness), and the Fathom E+, Trance X E+, and Reign E+ mountain bikes; settings, tuning, and diagnostics run through RideControl displays and the companion app.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Charging

Charge the EnergyPak with the supplied Giant charger at around room temperature (about 20°C/68°F). Charging below 0°C or above 40°C can lead to incomplete charging and harm battery life.

02

Battery storage

For long periods of non-use (a month or more), store the EnergyPak at about 60% charge (roughly 3 of 5 LEDs), separate from the bike, at moderate temperatures. Check it about monthly to confirm an LED still blinks, and recharge at least every three months.

03

Battery habits

Keep the battery topped up rather than leaving it discharged, and avoid leaving it in hot sun or extended cold while the bike sits unused.

04

Tire pressure

Check pressure regularly and keep it within the tire's printed range; correct inflation improves grip, range, and flat resistance on a heavier bike.

05

Chain & drivetrain

Keep the chain clean and lubricated and monitor drivetrain wear, which is accelerated by mid-drive motor torque.

06

Brakes

Inspect brake pads and lever feel routinely and service promptly given the added weight and speed of an e-bike.

07

Cleaning

Keeping the SyncDrive motor clean helps it perform its best, but never use a high-powered hose, which can damage the EnergyPak, RideControl, or SyncDrive systems. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaner instead.

08

Service intervals & firmware

Follow your dealer's guidance on how often the motor and drivetrain need inspection, since it varies with mileage and conditions; keep the system firmware current via RideControl and have persistent error codes read out with Giant's diagnostic tools.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

Do you service Giant e-bikes?
Yes. As an all-brands independent shop we service Explore E+, Escape+, Quick E+, and the Fathom/Trance X/Reign E+ mountain line, including tune-ups, drivetrain, brakes, wheels, and SyncDrive drive-system diagnostics.
Can you diagnose the SyncDrive motor and EnergyPak battery?
We can. We check the motor, battery, RideControl unit, and wiring and read out any stored error codes. Many assist complaints come from a sensor, connector, or firmware issue rather than a failed motor, and we'll tell you clearly if a component needs a warranty-only replacement.
Can you update the firmware on my Giant e-bike?
Yes. SyncDrive firmware and settings are managed through Giant's RideControl app and displays, and we can update your system and confirm it's current during a service visit.
How do parts and warranty work if I bought the bike elsewhere?
Wear items like tires, chains, brake pads, and cables we source normally. SyncDrive motor, EnergyPak battery, and frame warranty claims run through Giant's authorized network, so we'll diagnose the issue and direct you to the correct warranty channel.
How often should my Giant e-bike be serviced?
Giant recommends following dealer guidance based on how you ride, with an initial check after break-in and regular inspections after that. For most riders a tune-up once or twice a year works, sooner for high mileage or wet and muddy conditions.
How should I clean it without hurting the motor or battery?
Use a damp cloth or gentle spray with mild cleaner and dry it off afterward. Never aim a pressure washer at the motor, battery, or bearings, since forced water can cause damage that isn't covered by warranty.
