QuietKat E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

QuietKat
Built To Ride.

QuietKat builds rugged, all-terrain fat-tire e-bikes aimed at hunting, fishing, overlanding, and backcountry off-road riding, with models like the Ranger, Apex, and Lynx. Their bikes commonly use powerful hub or mid-drive motors (often 750W/1000W) with QuietKat's VPO (Variable Power Output) technology to adjust output and class on the fly, paired with sealed lithium battery packs. Built with oversized knobby tires, durable frames, and cargo/rack accessory options, they're designed to carry gear over rough, muddy, sandy, and snowy terrain.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Battery

QuietKat packs are sealed and effectively maintenance-free; top off the charge when you can, use eco/lower assist modes to extend range, and for long-term storage check your manual for the recommended storage charge (some models specify a partial charge, others a full charge).

02

Battery storage and cold

don't cover the battery or charger while charging, and move the bike to warmer storage in winter since cold temperatures drain the pack faster.

03

Fat tires

check pressure before every ride to suit the terrain; QuietKat's oversized tires can be aired down (as low as roughly 8 psi for extra traction in mud, sand, or snow) and aired back up for harder surfaces and efficiency, so carry a gauge and a patch/repair kit.

04

Chain and drivetrain

clean and lubricate the chain by hand with degreaser and a chain scrubber, then wipe off excess lube; never point a high-pressure hose at the drivetrain or electrical components.

05

Brakes

check brakes before every ride, watch for squealing (often oil/grease contamination or misalignment), and replace pads and rotors promptly when worn, especially before steep off-road descents.

06

Cleaning and cables

wash the frame with a light cleaning solution and soft rags (leave the battery on to protect the connectors), dry it to prevent corrosion, and inspect cables for damage since a damaged cable can trigger error codes.

07

Error codes

many QuietKat faults are connection-related; power-cycling the system, removing/reseating the battery, and reseating harness/display/throttle connectors (matching arrows and pins) resolves common codes, per QuietKat's Owners Toolbox.

08

Service intervals

an annual professional service is recommended to check the electrical system and complex components; QuietKat notes that motor and battery repairs should go to a professional or their Velofix mobile-service partner.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

Can Mokwheel service my QuietKat if I ride it hard off-road?
Yes. Off-road fat-tire bikes take a beating, and we handle the mechanical wear items (brakes, drivetrain, bearings, tires, suspension pivots) that off-road riding accelerates. For sealed-battery or motor issues we'll diagnose the fault and advise on repair or a QuietKat/Velofix warranty path.
What tire pressure should I run on my QuietKat fat tires?
It depends on terrain and your weight. Firmer pressure rolls more efficiently on hardpack and roads, while airing down (QuietKat mentions as low as about 8 psi) adds traction in sand, snow, and mud. Stay within the sidewall's rated range, and we can help you find a good working pressure for how you ride.
My QuietKat is throwing an error code. Can you fix it?
Often yes. Many QuietKat error codes come from loose or dirty connectors, so we start by power-cycling, reseating the battery, and checking the wiring harness, display, throttle, and brake connectors for bent pins. If it's a deeper motor or controller fault we'll diagnose it and point you to the right repair or warranty option.
Do I need to maintain the motor and battery?
The motor and sealed battery are designed to be largely maintenance-free, so there's no routine internal service to perform. Your job is to keep them clean and dry, avoid high-pressure water, top off the battery, and store it properly. If performance drops noticeably, bring it in and we'll test the system.
How do I care for the bike after a muddy hunting trip?
Rinse gently and clean by hand with mild soap and soft rags rather than a pressure washer, keeping the battery on to protect the connectors, then dry it and re-lube the chain. Check the brakes and tires while you're at it, and store it somewhere dry to prevent corrosion of the electrical parts.
How often should I bring it in for service?
A professional check-up about once a year is a good baseline, plus a quick brake, tire, and connector inspection before big trips. If you ride frequently in wet, sandy, or muddy conditions, more regular drivetrain cleaning and brake checks will keep it reliable in the field.
