Rad Power Bikes E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

Rad Power Bikes
Built To Ride.

Rad Power Bikes is a Seattle-founded, direct-to-consumer brand that grew into one of North America's largest e-bike companies, known for affordable, utility-focused fat-tire and cargo models. Their lineup includes the RadRover (fat-tire), RadRunner (utility/moped-style), RadWagon (long-tail cargo), RadCity (commuter), and RadExpand (folding) bikes. Most models use rear geared hub motors (typically 750W in the U.S.) paired with removable lithium-ion battery packs and an LCD or LED display.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Battery charging

The lithium-ion pack has no charge "memory," so it's fine to top it off after every ride, even short ones. A full charge from empty generally takes about 3–7 hours depending on the model and charger.

02

Battery storage

Store the battery indoors in a dry, climate-controlled space, ideally around 50–77°F (10–25°C). For storage longer than two weeks, leave the pack at roughly 75% charge and check on it periodically rather than storing it full or empty.

03

Tire pressure

Check pressure before rides and keep it within the range printed on the tire sidewall. Fat-tire models run relatively low pressures, so verify against the specific tire rather than guessing; correct pressure protects range, ride quality, and rims.

04

Chain & drivetrain

Keep the chain clean and lubricated with a bicycle-specific lube, wiping off excess. On heavily used cargo and utility models the chain and cassette wear faster, so inspect for stretch and replace worn parts to protect the drivetrain.

05

Brakes

Check brake lever feel and pad thickness regularly. Because Rad bikes are heavy and often carry cargo or passengers, brakes wear faster than on a standard bike; replace pads before they reach the wear line and confirm rotors are true.

06

Bolt & torque checks

Periodically verify that stem, handlebar, seatpost, axle/thru-axle, and accessory-rack bolts are tight to the values in your model's owner's manual. Re-check fasteners after the first few rides and after any assembly or accessory install.

07

Cleaning

Wipe the frame and components down with a damp cloth and mild cleaner. Never use a pressure washer or direct hose spray, especially near the battery, motor, display, and electrical connectors.

08

Service intervals

A general tune-up (brakes, gears, spoke tension, torque check, drivetrain) every few months or a few hundred miles keeps things safe; heavy commuters and cargo riders benefit from more frequent professional checks.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

Do you service Rad Power Bikes?
Yes. As an independent shop we service all major e-bike brands, including the full Rad lineup (RadRover, RadRunner, RadWagon, RadCity, RadExpand and others). We handle tune-ups, brake and drivetrain work, flats, and diagnostics on the electrical system.
My Rad bike won't turn on — what's wrong?
The most common causes are a battery that isn't fully seated or charged, the battery key/lock not engaged, or a loose main wiring connector. Bring it in and we'll check the battery, charger, connectors, and display; if the pack or a controller has failed we can diagnose it and advise on genuine replacement parts.
How often should I service my Rad bike?
For most riders we suggest a professional tune-up every few months or every few hundred miles, sooner if you ride daily, carry cargo, or ride in wet weather. Rad bikes are heavy, so brakes and drivetrains wear faster and benefit from routine checks.
Can you get Rad Power Bikes replacement parts?
Many wear items (brake pads, tires, tubes, chains, cassettes, cables) are standard bicycle parts we stock or can order. Brand-specific electrical components like batteries, controllers, and displays are sourced through Rad or their parts channels; we'll help identify the exact part your model needs.
Are Rad Power Bikes waterproof?
They're water-resistant and fine for riding in rain, but not waterproof. Avoid submerging components or spraying the battery, motor, and connectors directly, and dry the bike after wet rides to prevent corrosion.
Is my warranty affected if you service the bike?
Routine maintenance and wear-item replacement at an independent shop is normal and generally does not void a manufacturer warranty. For anything battery- or motor-related that may be a warranty claim, we'll advise you before proceeding so you can decide how to handle it with Rad.
