Trek E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

Trek
Built To Ride.

Trek is one of the largest bicycle makers in the world, and its e-bikes are known for clean integration, UL 2849-certified e-systems, and battery packs built with Tier-1 cells and a sophisticated battery management system (BMS). Most Trek e-bikes run Bosch mid-drive systems (Active Line, Performance Line, and the newer Smart System), while some lightweight models such as the Fuel EXe use the compact TQ HPR50 motor. Popular models include the Verve+ and FX+ (fitness/commute), Allant+ (premium commute), and the Powerfly and Rail mountain lines; firmware and rider settings are managed through the Bosch eBike Flow app and Trek Central.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Charging

Charge with the original Bosch (or TQ) charger in a dry area, ideally near a working smoke detector, and preferably at room temperature. A full charge takes roughly 3–5 hours depending on the battery and charger.

02

Battery storage

For storage, keep the battery around a 30–60% charge in a dry room at room temperature, and avoid leaving it fully drained. In cold weather, charge and store the battery indoors and install it just before riding.

03

Temperature care

Batteries dislike extreme heat and cold. Park in shade or a cool room, avoid direct sun, and bring the battery (or the whole bike) inside during harsh winters or heat waves.

04

Tire pressure

Check pressure regularly and keep it within the tire's printed range; proper inflation protects against flats and pinch damage on a heavier e-bike.

05

Chain & drivetrain

Keep the chain clean and lubed and monitor chain and cassette wear, which happens faster under mid-drive torque.

06

Brakes

Inspect pads and lever feel routinely; the extra weight and speed of an e-bike make prompt brake service important.

07

Bolts, cleaning & rides in rain

Periodically check key bolts to spec, wash with a damp cloth and mild cleaner (never a high-pressure hose), and note that Trek's e-systems are designed to handle rain and washing.

08

Firmware & service

The e-system itself needs little maintenance beyond periodic firmware updates via the Bosch eBike Flow app or Trek Central; bring the bike to a shop with mechanics trained on its drive system for diagnostics and drive-related work.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

Do you service Trek e-bikes?
Yes. As an all-brands independent shop we service the Verve+, FX+, Allant+, Powerfly, Rail, and Fuel EXe, covering tune-ups, drivetrain, brakes, wheels, and diagnostics on both Bosch and TQ drive systems.
Can you run diagnostics on the Bosch (or TQ) mid-drive system?
We can. We connect to the drive unit to read error codes and check the motor, battery, and display/controller. A lot of assist complaints trace back to a sensor, connector, or firmware issue rather than a failed motor, and we'll be straight with you if a part needs a warranty channel.
Can you update my Bosch Smart System firmware?
Yes. Bosch firmware and settings update through the eBike Flow app (and Trek Central), and we can bring your motor and display up to current software as part of a service.
How does warranty and parts sourcing work if I didn't buy the bike here?
Wear parts like tires, chains, pads, and cables we handle directly. Battery, motor, and frame warranty claims go through Trek's/Bosch's authorized process, so we'll diagnose the problem and help you understand the right warranty path even though we're an independent shop.
How often should a Trek e-bike be serviced?
A tune-up once or twice a year suits most riders, with more frequent checks for high-mileage, wet, or off-road use. We also recommend a check after the initial break-in miles to re-tension spokes and re-check bolts and shifting.
Can I ride and wash it in the rain?
Yes. High-quality e-drive systems are built to withstand rain and washing. Use a gentle spray or damp cloth rather than a pressure washer, which can push water past seals into the motor and bearings.
