Velotric E-Bike Service & Care

Mokwheel E-Bikes

Velotric
Built To Ride.

Velotric is a rider-friendly e-bike brand known for approachable, well-equipped commuter, cruiser, folding, and fat-tire models such as the Discover, Nomad, Fold, Summit, Tempo, and T1 lines. Their bikes typically pair rear hub or mid-drive motors with UL-certified lithium-ion batteries (commonly 48V packs), five-level pedal assist plus throttle, and hydraulic disc brakes. Velotric emphasizes safety certification (UL 2271 batteries, UL 2849 systems) and an easy ownership experience, making their bikes a common sight for everyday commuting and light off-road riding.

Care & Coverage

Everything that keeps your Mokwheel rolling, backed by real people you can visit.

01

Battery charging

Charge after rides so the pack is ready to go, but avoid deep 100% discharges. Velotric recommends shallower cycles (for example, topping up from around 50% to 80%) to protect longevity, and never leaving the bike charging unattended overnight or for extended periods.

02

Battery storage

Store the battery in a cool, dry place at a partial charge if the bike will sit unused, and keep it away from extreme heat or cold. Remove the battery before washing the bike to protect it from water.

03

Tire pressure

Check pressure before rides and inflate to the range printed on the tire sidewall. Proper inflation improves handling and range and reduces strain on the motor and battery.

04

Chain & drivetrain

Keep the chain and drivetrain (chain, cranks, sprockets, derailleur) clean; wipe with a lint-free cloth, then apply a bike-specific chain lubricant and wipe off excess so grit does not build up.

05

Brakes

Velotric bikes commonly use hydraulic disc brakes (Shimano on many models). Inspect pads and rotors regularly, test for firm, even stopping, and keep cleaning products and oils off the discs.

06

Bolts & loose parts

Do a quick pre-ride check for loose brake levers, knobs, fasteners, and electrical connectors, especially after riding rough terrain; tighten as needed.

07

Cleaning & connections

Wipe the frame down after rides and wash with a low-pressure hose or bucket, never a pressure washer. Check wiring connectors and junction points for moisture or corrosion, particularly after wet rides.

08

Service intervals

Velotric suggests a professional tune-up at least once a year, and roughly every three to four months (about every 1,000 miles) for riders logging heavy weekly mileage. Always check tire pressure, loose parts, and battery charge before every ride.

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most from riders.

How often should my Velotric be serviced?
For most riders, an annual professional tune-up keeps everything in good shape. If you commute daily or ride heavy weekly mileage, we recommend bringing it in every three to four months for brake, drivetrain, and bolt checks. We service all Velotric models regardless of where you bought the bike.
My display shows an error code or the motor cut out. Can you help?
Yes. Velotric bikes use an integrated display and controller, and error codes usually point to a specific sensor, connector, or battery issue. We can read the code, inspect the wiring harness and connections, and diagnose whether it is a simple reseat/reset or a component that needs replacement.
Do you work on Velotric hydraulic disc brakes?
Absolutely. We inspect pads and rotors, adjust for even and firm engagement, and bleed hydraulic systems when the lever feels spongy. Since e-bikes are heavier and faster, we treat brake service as a priority safety item.
My battery range has dropped. Is the battery bad?
Not necessarily. Range loss often comes from low tire pressure, a dirty or dry drivetrain, cold weather, or normal battery aging. We can test the battery's health, check the charging system, and tune the bike so you get the most range possible before considering a replacement pack.
Can you replace parts if my Velotric warranty is expired or I bought it used?
Yes. As an independent shop we service Velotric bikes at any age. We can source or fit compatible replacement parts, but for battery replacements we always recommend a Velotric-spec, UL-certified pack to keep the bike safe and certified.
Should I be worried about riding my Velotric in the rain?
Velotric systems are built to handle normal wet-weather riding, but avoid submerging components and dry the bike and connectors afterward. If you ride frequently in the wet, let us check the electrical connections periodically for corrosion.
